Hello, I’m Greg Robins.
I live in Lynn Valley with my wife, Nicole, two children Marlee and Tyler, and our big dog, Luna. As a 17 year resident of the North Shore, I am proud to be running for a seat on council for the District of North Vancouver.
The passion of the people on the North Shore is something I have learned from my decade-long experience of owning and operating Oranics@Home Urban Delivery and Sprout Organic Market – two local business created and operated here on the North Shore. Meeting customers day in and day out, I have heard the concerns from local residents on everything from traffic to development to council’s implementation of the OCP. During this ownership operating as a family business, we were fortunate to be considered for the award for Innovation in the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award, along with several North Shore News Readers’ Choice finalist awards.
Because affordability and fairness for all is a value I hold close to my heart, I am a long-term board member of the Lookout Society, a major advocate for solutions to homelessness in North Vancouver. My present role as Secretary on the Foundation Board has provided a valuable education in how government and non-profits work with one another. My additional volunteer experience in several other board roles at Langara College and the Beauty Council has rounded out my knowledge of the ways governments support local business and educational institutions.
I am in the final stages of obtaining my Masters of Arts in Leadership from Royal Roads University and believe I can use the knowledge from that program to help the DNV council work towards even better collaboration, innovation and stakeholder engagement. I believe there will be a significant change in the makeup of the council in this election, and leadership strategies will be beneficial for all decision making at the local level of government.
The reason I want to represent the people of the District is threefold; I believe in a strong community represented by the interests of local residents, I support small businesses owned and operated by those living on the North Shore, and I deeply value our unique natural surroundings and feel they need to be protected and nurtured.
I also have compiled a list of resources useful for anyone living in the District.
