I have lived with my family on the North Shore since 2002, in West Vancouver, the City of North Vancouver and for the past eight years, the District of North Vancouver.
The community is something I have been involved with for many years on a regular basis. From supporting our local BMX club with volunteer work and park upgrades, working with the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival (VIMFF), to my current role as Secretary of the board, Lookout Society Foundation. While on the Lookout Board, I was on a team to champion the establishment of the Dovercourt Addiction Recovery Program for Men in North Vancouver, a vital and life-saving resource for men battling and overcoming addictions.
I also sit on the boards of The Beauty Council, representing professional salons and spas on the North Shore, and Beauty Safe, a program to encourage municipalities to adopt rules for salon sanitation and hygiene for public safety. Finally, I sit on two boards at Langara College to further the goals and success of the School of Management and the Publishing Program.
I am presently a vice-president at Salon Communications Inc., publishers of Salon Magazine, Elevate Magazine and the Contessa Awards. Originally a founder of the company, I currently oversee major new initiatives for Salon Communications and work with large clients in Canada and the US. My past roles at the company have included working with governments to secure grants and funding, giving me valuable experience in how the private sector works with the government.
